China condemns visit of Indian representatives to Tibet

It was earlier reported that India's Interior Minister Amit Shah would visit Beijing's disputed border state of Arunachal Pradesh on April 10-11

BEIJING, April 10. /TASS/. China condemns the visit of India's interior minister to China’s South Tibet, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Monday.

"South Tibet is China’s territory, and the actions of high-ranking Indian officials in the region violate China's territorial sovereignty and do not contribute to peace and stability in the border areas. China strongly opposes such actions," the diplomat said.

It was earlier reported that India's Interior Minister Amit Shah would visit Beijing's disputed border state of Arunachal Pradesh on April 10-11.

The absence of a demarcated border between India and China in the Himalayas (the two countries are separated by the Line of Actual Control, or LAC) has been a source of tension for decades. In 1959, India claimed that the Chinese side had seized part of the Arunachal Pradesh state. An armed conflict between the two countries broke out in 1962 and China took control of around 38,000 square kilometers of India’s soil in Ladakh and Aksai Chin.
