MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. US grunge legends Alice In Chains will play concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2019 for the first time in the band’s history, a representative of the Melnitsa concert agency told TASS on Wednesday.
"Legendary Alice In Chains will visit Russia for the first time playing big shows in two (Russian) capitals. On June 18, the band will perform at the A2 Green Concert club in St. Petersburg, and on June 20 at the Adrenaline Stadium in Moscow," the representative said.
During the world tour, which kicks off in March 2019, the musicians will also visit New Zealand, Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Estonia and Finland.
The tour is timed for the release of the band’s new album Rainier Fog that came out in August 2018.
"It's a record we haven't done yet, but it's also a record that has all the elements of anything you would expect from us," the promoters quoted a statement of the band’s guitarist Jerry Cantrell.
Founded in 1987 in Seattle, Alice In Chains gained world recognition in the early 1990s in the wake of popularity of grunge. Although the band did not officially split, since 1996 it became less active due to the drug addiction of its singer Layne Staley, which caused his death in 2002. The band reunited in 2005 with new vocalist William DuVall. The band recorded six studio albums, which were sold over 35 million copies.
