Russia Arms EXPO kicks off in Nizhny Tagil

"UralVagonZavod" scientific industrial Corporation presents its latest military hardware

NIZHNY TAGIL, September 25 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian "UralVagonZavod" scientific industrial Corporation is the main enterprise which financed the Russia Arms EXPO exhibition which opened in Nizhny Tagil on Wednesday, Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuivashev told Itar-Tass. One of our main tasks is to make the exhibition pay off, the governor said.

The " UralVagon Zavod" has enough financial potential to organize the show on a sufficiently high level. The choice of the UralVagonZavod Corporation as an organizer of the exhibition was absolutely justified, the governor said.

The purpose of the exhibition prompts a change in its format which needs improvement, the governor admitted, adding it was a job for experts to do.

The interest in the Nizhny Tagil exhibition has been growing; even NATO experts are present here, which speaks of its growing popularity. "I think the UralVagonZavod Corporation has the necessary potential to make the tenth, jubilee Arms EXPO, due in 2015, even better", the governor said.

Before the Corporation was appointed the main organizer of the exhibition the Sverdlovsk regional government had accounted for a lion's share of investments in its organization, the governor said. This time we have also invested considerable funds into repairs in settlements, which adjoin the Staratel test site where the exhibition is being held, into the development of the infrastructure in Nizhny Tagil. The money was also invested in the repairs of roads and facades of buildings in the city, the governor said.

The Sverdlovsk region has become one of the main exhibition centers in Russia. Any exhibition promotes a region where it is held and turns into a venue for talks on different levels. More than 60 delegations from different countries arrived in Nizhny Tagil this time not only to see the combat equipment of the Russian army, but also join mutually advantageous cooperation, the governor said.

"We link the exhibition with a growing volume of sale of the production of enterprises of the defense industry in the Sverdlovsk region. Therefore, the more contracts they sign at the exhibition the more contributions to the regional budget are expected," the governor said.

Around 400 exhibits, including military equipment of NATO armies exhibited in Nizhny Tagil for the first time, are on display at the Nizhny Tagil Arms EXPO.
