Israeli troops eliminate new threats from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon

According to the IDF, a group of armed terrorists was identified near a church in southern Lebanon "that was actively used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization."

TEL AVIV, December 1. /TASS/. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said it removed several threats from Hezbollah armed groups in southern Lebanon that violated the ceasefire terms.

"Over the past day, the IDF operated in several locations in southern Lebanon to remove threats to the State of Israel that were in violation the ceasefire agreement conditions," it said.

According to the IDF, a group of armed terrorists was identified near a church in southern Lebanon "that was actively used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization." "The troops fired toward the terrorists and eliminated them," it reported.

"Following the elimination of the terrorists, the troops scanned the church area and located a tunnel shaft containing weapons," the IDF added.

The agreement on the first ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon since hostilities flared up in October 2023 took effect on the morning of November 27. US President Joe Biden announced that the agreements between the Jewish state and Hezbollah provided for the re-establishment of the Lebanese army and state security forces’ control of the country’s territory within 60 days. After that, the Israeli army will be gradually pulled out of Lebanon.
