West crosses red lines undermining positions of Belarusian authorities — security chief

According to Nikolai Patrushev, so-called hybrid warfare has become more widespread in recent years

MOSCOW, June 24. /TASS/. Some Western countries have crossed all the red lines trying to undermine the positions of the legitimate authorities in Belarus, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said at the Moscow Conference on International Security on Thursday.

"The scenario of a color revolution was recently thwarted in that country (Belarus - TASS), with some Western states literally crossing all the red lines in an attempt to undermine the positions of the legitimate authorities and promote their own proxies to ruling positions," he said.

According to Patrushev, so-called hybrid warfare, which often brings no less suffering to people than traditional hot conflicts, has become more widespread in recent years. He cited the situation in Ukraine in 2014 as an example, when outside forces relied on neo-Nazi groups to conduct a violent regime change. "Today we see them actually dictating their will to the authorities and even attempting forays into neighboring states. I have in mind, first and foremost, an attempt on the life of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko," he said.
