KIEV, February 19. /TASS/. About 57% of Ukrainians spoke against President Vladimir Zelensky running for second term in 2024, says poll, conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology and the Socis Center, published Friday.
"57.1% of respondents spoke against Vladimir Zelensky running for the second term 27.9% would like him to run again; 8.2% opined that there is enough time before the next election, while 6.7% were unable to respond definitively," the poll says.
However, if presidential election took place next Sunday, Zelensky could potentially reach second round with 25.6% of votes, along with former president Pyotr Poroshenko, who enjoys support of 19.4% of respondents. Zelensky would likely win with 56.4% of votes, while Poroshenko would likely lose with 43.6% support.
The poll took place between February 11 and 16 by phone, and encompassed over 3,000 respondents aged 18 and above in all regions, besides those not under Kiev’s control.
In January 2019, Zelensky said during his campaign that he intends to only run once "in order to change the system." However, in May, 2020, he said that one term might not be enough, and vowed to think whether he would run again.
