LUGANSK, February 4. /TASS/. Russian troops have expanded the area under their control near the Dvurechnaya bridgehead after liberating the settlement of Novomlynsk in the Kharkov Region, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS on Tuesday.
Russian troops have taken new lines and considerably improved their tactical position after successful assaults in the north and the northwest of the settlement of Dvurechnaya, he said.
"The Russian army has taken control of three strongholds of the Ukrainian army located on strategic heights, a forest belt with the positions of Ukrainian militants where they abandoned Western armaments and ammunition, and also the settlement of Novomlynsk," the military expert said.
Marochko told TASS on February 1 that Russian forces had delivered a strike on Ukrainian troops stationed near Novomlynsk, following which some enemy forces were destroyed while the rest fled their positions.
