MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) Konstantin Kosachev castigated the recent brash assertions trotted out by the US and the UK about Russia allegedly cooking up chemical ‘attacks’ in Ukraine as alarming. What’s more, the key Russian legislator said shockingly sensational video footage with ‘forthcoming poisonings’ may have already been calculatingly filmed.
"I can freely presume that a ‘chemical Hollywood’ was filmed by now with shocking footage of forthcoming ‘poisonings’ in Ukraine. The White Helmets have already questioned ‘witnesses,’ while Bellingcat (belongs to Stichting Bellingcat recognized in Russia as a foreign agent media outlet) has amassed on the Internet ‘one-hundred-percent solid’ evidence of how a special unit of the ‘Kursk division of chemical genocide’ delivered a huge batch of Novichok to Ukraine or something else with a ‘Made in Russia’ label on it,’" he wrote on his Telegram channel.
"Considering how often the Anglo-Saxons regurgitate precisely the subject of chemical weapons with regards to Ukraine, this raises particular alarm," the senator added. He emphasized that over the past decade and even longer, the West has been using its clout in the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in order to "accuse its adversaries of using chemical warfare and here it’s being massively churned out."
He added that the assertions trotted out by Washington and London about inevitable chemical attacks can only stir up alarm. "The fact that everything can be done rather crudely doesn’t bother anyone anymore. Their audience has been adequately primed to believe any staged production. Even if the truth comes out later, this won’t change anything. Has anyone been held responsible for ‘Colin Powell’s vial’ scam? What’s the difference, Saddam (Hussein, former Iraqi leader - TASS) is still the bad guy in any case. This is exactly what is being inculcated into the minds of the ordinary Western public during the media’s "Two Minutes Hate" - anything goes against Russians. The law, rules and values do not apply to them," the senator maintained.
He emphasized that Ukrainians do not realize that they are the ones who will be sacrificed in those staged events. "Those that [the West] doesn’t give a damn about are given the noble role of rallying the West," he said.
US State Department Spokesman Ned Price told reporters on Tuesday that "Russia may seek to resort to chemical weapons" during its special military operation in Ukraine. Washington claimed, among other things that in Mariupol "Russia’s forces may use a variety of riot-control agents, and that includes tear gas mixed with chemical agents that would cause stronger symptoms."
Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) with the support of Western countries was staging a provocation with the use of toxic substances against civilians in order to pin the blame on Russia. He stressed that the Russian armed forces engaged in the special military operation in Ukraine have no chemical weapons at their disposal.
