MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Russia’s economy maintains its resilience and macroeconomic stability despite sanctions and global economic turmoil, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with RBC.
"Russia maintains its resilience, maintains macroeconomic stability. Yes, Russia is experiencing certain points of tension and challenges in various sectors of the economy, which are inevitably connected with the myriad economic restrictions, sanctions we face, and so on, as well as with the global economic turmoil," Peskov said.
The Kremlin official also said that the national economy has adapted to the needs of the special military operation and fulfills all the army's requirements.
He noted that Moscow had already heard that the Russian economy would collapse, "Russia would be torn to shreds," and so on.
"We've heard this from Washington repeatedly, we've heard it from European capitals. But a considerable amount of time has passed. The Russian economy has largely restructured itself to meet the needs of the special military operation, such that all the front's needs are more than covered," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
Peskov called the draft federal budget for 2026 and the 2027-2028 planning period fully balanced. He admitted that "there are certainly issues" in the national economy.
"Every country's economy is currently facing problems, and in our case, they're being exacerbated by these very sanctions restrictions. But a balanced budget has been submitted [to the government]," Peskov said.
