Russia not waiting 'with open arms' for foreign companies to come back — minister

Anton Alikhanov noted that Russia will outline its position once it gets an appropriate directive

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Russia is not "waiting with open arms" for foreign companies that left the country to come back, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov told reporters on the sidelines of the Future Technologies Forum.

"You know, we are not waiting for anyone with open arms. There will be a price to pay for past decisions. We will outline our position once we get an appropriate directive. Our industry as a whole received great opportunities for development [after the exit of foreign brands - TASS]; we still see this growth opportunity, and we don’t want to give it up," Alikhanov said.

At this point, Russia is not prioritizing the return of foreign brands to its market, and will instead encourage the development of domestic brands, the ministry said earlier. The issue of the return of foreign brands to the Russian market should be considered on a case-by-case basis, the ministry added.
