ST. PETERSBURG, November 6. /TASS/. The cargo transit over the Northern Sea Route has already reached the volume of three million metric tons, CEO of Rosatom corporation Alexey Likhachev said at the launch ceremony of the Chukotka nuclear-powered icebreaker.
"More than three million metric tons of transit cargoes were carried [along the Northern Sea Route] on account of redirecting cargoes from Western routes to Eastern ones - 40% growth against the last year," the chief executive said.
The interest of friendly countries in transporting cargoes along the Northern Sea Route is growing, Likhachev added.
