Libyan parliament speaker, top Turkish diplomat discuss ways of settling Libyan crisis

The talks between Aguila Saleh and Hakan Fidan were held in Benghazi after the top Turkish diplomat’s meeting with Libyan National Army commander Saddam Haftar

TUNIS, August 12. /TASS/. Ways of settling the Libyan crisis and the situation in the region were the focus of a meeting between speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives (parliament working the east of the country) Aguila Saleh and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Libyan parliament spokesman Abdullah Blihaq said.

During the meeting, Saleh "stressed the need for settling the Libyan crisis through unifying state institutions and organizing presidential and parliamentary elections that will express the will of the Libyan people," the spokesman said, adding that the sides also discussed bilateral relations and a range of other issues of mutual interest.

The Libyan parliament speaker voiced support for the projects for the reconstruction and development of Libyan cities that are being implemented under the auspices of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund and welcomed the participation of Turkish companies in these programs.

The talks between Saleh and Fidan were held in Benghazi after the top Turkish diplomat’s meeting with Libyan National Army commander Saddam Haftar. Fidan arrived in Libya on a two-day official visit. This is his first visit to Benghazi.
