MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Malaysia has agreed to become a partner to BRICS, the country’s ambassador to Moscow, Cheong Loon Lai, told TASS.

"Malaysia was invited to become a BRICS partner, we received an official invitation letter," he stated. "This was in mid-November, and we have since responded to Russia, the current BRICS chair, confirming our agreement to join the association," he added.

After the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the group had agreed on a list of its partner countries, although their names were not disclosed. In the initial phase, invitations would be sent to these nations, and announcements would be made once a positive response is received.
