PARIS, April 9. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron has urged his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic to coordinate the country’s foreign policy decisions with the European community and rest assured that Serbia’s future is inseparably linked with the European Union.

"Serbia should have no doubt that <...> its future lies within the European Union and nowhere else. This is a strategic choice," Macron said at a joint press conference with Vucic. "It is important that Serbia continue to honor this choice in particular by greater coordination with our foreign policy decisions," the French leader added.

He noted that Serbia’s integration with Europe is its "sovereign choice," with no coercion involved, as there are "shared interests" at work here.

Earlier. Vucic wrote on social media that soon, Serbia will encounter difficult challenges that threaten its vital national interests. He also asserted that Serbia and its people are under constant enormous pressure due to the republic’s independent policy course which involves military neutrality and its refusal to join anti-Russian sanctions. Vucic noted that his talks with Macron in Paris are highly important for Belgrade and will discuss cooperation in the military-industrial sphere."
