"Now that the war has spread from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, our response in the next stage of a possible war could make this front even broader, extending to the Indian Ocean and other regions," Fars news agency quoted him as saying.

"We do not know what is going on in the minds of [US President Donald] Trump and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, but our armed forces are thoroughly working through possible scenarios and have prepared their plans even for the worst of them," Safavi said.
