Jakarta respects Putin’s decision not to attend G20 summit — minister

The G20 summit will take place in Bali on November 15-16

BANGKOK, November 10./TASS/. Jakarta knows that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia respects the decision of the Russian leader, Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said on Thursday.

"It has been officially informed that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will not attend the G20 summit, and will be represented by a high-level official, and this has been discussed by President Joko Widodo and Putin in previous telephone conversations," AP quoted Pandjaitan, who is also the Chief of Support for G20 events.

Pandjaitan said did not know why Putin had decided not to come, adding that "maybe it’s because President Putin is busy at home," and that this decision must be respected.

"Whatever happens with Russia’s decision, it is for our common good and the best for all of us," the minister was quoted by Associated Press.

President Putin may take part in the G20 summit in Bali via videoconference, press attache·at the Russian Embassy to Indonesia Alexander Tumaikin told TASS on Thursday. The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS.

The G20 summit will take place in Bali on November 15-16.
