Houthis fire two missiles at military airfield near Bab el-Mandeb Strait

Yemeni government forces launched drone strikes on Ansar Allah fighters and barracks in the western part of Taiz Governorate

DOHA, August 14. /TASS/. Houthi rebels from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement have carried out a missile strike on a military airfield near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the country's southwest, the Almasdar Online news website reported.

According to the report, the airfield in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate came under attack. Yemen Today television said, citing a military source, that the rebels had fired two missiles at the facility. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The Saudi-based Al Arabiya television channel, meanwhile, reported that Yemeni government forces launched drone strikes on Ansar Allah fighters and barracks in the western part of Taiz Governorate.

The conflict between Saudi-backed government forces and Houthi rebels has been ongoing since August 2014. Fighting escalated sharply in the summer of 2026. Al Arabiya reported on August 12, citing a source, that 84 Houthi fighters, including 28 field commanders, had been killed over the previous six days.
