MOSCOW, June 29. /TASS/. A man found guilty of the murder of his wife, mother and six children has been sentenced to life imprisonment, the spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee said on Wednesday.
"The court sentenced Oleg Belov to life in prison," Vladimir Markin said.
In July 2015 Belov stabbed his wife to death and then killed his six underage children in the city of Nizhny Novgorod. He dismembered the bodies and a week later killed his mother who lived in the neighboring Vladimir Region over fears that she could have turned him in to police. Belov was detained on the following day at his summer cottage in the town of Kovrov, some 200 kilometers northeast of Moscow.
"Belov is suffering from a mental disorder but is not insane, which means that he is fit to be held criminally responsible," Markin said.
