Sanya's Hongzhou Yacht Marina in Hainan becomes recreation zone of national importance

HAIKOU /China/, March 18. /TASS/. Hongzhou Yacht Marina in the resort city of Sanya on China's Hainan Island and the surrounding area has been granted the official status of a recreation zone of national importance. This was reported by the Sanya Daily newspaper

According to the newspaper, the decision was made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the PRC. According to the ministry, Hongzhou and the surrounding tourist area meet all standards and key criteria necessary for recreation.

There are restaurants and stores, numerous cultural and entertainment facilities in the area of the marina. Due to the location and climate, this location is recommended for those who love romantic trips, the paper noted.

Hongzhou was built in July 2005, it is located on a small peninsula at the intersection of two branches of the Sanya River. In close proximity to the south is the South China Sea. There are also several well-known landmarks in China nearby, including Luhuitou ("deer turning its head"), a hill-top tropical park. Last November, the marina was designated a tourist and recreational zone of provincial importance.

Sanya is China's leading resort, home to more than 1 million people. In 2022, its gross product was 84.71 billion yuan (about $12.2 billion). The city reaches an average annual temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius and has a coastline of more than 200 kilometers. There are 19 bays in the surrounding waters and about 40 islands suitable for recreation. All this allows the local administration to successfully develop yacht and beach tourism.
