MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. A country like Russia cannot be completely blocked by Western sanctions, and Moscow will find alternatives for resolving the situation with gas payments from foreign buyers following the U.S. restrictions on Gazprombank, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing.
"Of course, we will find alternatives. Measures to fully block a country like Russia are impossible. It may take some time, but a solution will eventually be found," he stated.
The Kremlin official did not specify how exactly Western buyers would make gas payments. He added that Gazprombank "is clarifying the situation, and interested parties can contact them for further details."
On Thursday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury released a new sanctions list, which included Gazprombank. After the introduction of EU sanctions, this bank — previously exempt from restrictions — became the only one through which EU countries could make payments for Russian gas supplies, and only in rubles.
