MUSCAT, May 11./TASS/. Russia knows perfectly well how it will continue to carry on living with the sweeping sanctions from the West, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference on Wednesday after talks with the counterpart from Oman, Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi.
"We have a clear picture of how to move on with life. The main conclusion is to in no way rely on the West’s negotiability," the minister said in reply to a question.
According to the top diplomat, the West has demonstrated that "it is ready for transgressing the very principles it professes, even going as far as flagrant theft and robbery for the sake of establishing its hegemony". "The inviolability of private property, the presumption of innocence, everything that Western civilization used to brag about all these years as the underlying principle of its state formation, all this has been discarded and grossly violated," Lavrov stressed.
"We have already drawn conclusions. We will rely on ourselves and on our dependable partners, the vast majority of which are not part of the so-called former golden billion (wealthy inhabitants of first-world nations - TASS)," he added.
In addition, Russia has enough buyers of energy resources apart from Europe, the top diplomat noted. "We have enough buyers of our energy resources, and we will work with them. As for the West, let it pay a much higher price [for the energy resources] than it used to pay Russia, and let them explain to their population why they will have to become poorer," he stressed.
