Armed forces track unidentified flying object over Leningrad Region

The unidentified object is moving at the speed of the wind, which means it doesn’t have engines, so it’s not a drone or a plane, a representative of the regional armed and security forces said

ST. PETERSBURG, April 5. /TASS/. An unidentified flying object has been spotted over the Leningrad Region on Wednesday and is being tracked by the military, a representative of the regional armed and security forces told TASS.

The military have no reason yet to put its security services on high alert, despite what some news media and Telegram channels reported earlier, the representative said.

"The unidentified object is moving at the speed of the wind, which means it doesn’t have engines, so it’s not a drone or a plane. Therefore, there was no reason to issue the ‘Regime’ signal. We are watching the situation, and our air defense system is fully prepared to act, if necessary," the person told TASS.

The ‘Regime’ signal means Russia’s airspace must cease to be violated. TASS has requested an official comment from the Western Military District.

Leningrad Region Deputy Governor Mikhail Ilyin, who is in charge of security, told TASS that reports about an unidentified object over the town of Sosnovy Bor are inaccurate. Sosnovy Bor is where the Leningradskaya Nuclear Power Plant is located.
