MOSCOW, March 18. /TASS/. Russian developers are going to bring a robotic platform for power transmission lines’ repair and based on the Spider drone to the market in May 2024, the press service of the National Technology Initiative Platform told TASS.
"Specialists of the Laboratory of the Future company (Yekaterinburg) created and successfully tested the robotic system based on the Spider drone. It is designed to cut untwined steel and aluminum wires and ground wires of power transmission lines that occur as a result of lightning strikes or corrosion. Such damage may lead to short circuiting and lengthy outage of power transmission lines," the press service said. "The development solving this problem will enter the market as early as in May," it added.
The spider robot is able to not merely cut wires and braid cable cores if they are not damaged.
