Hainan’s city of Sanya uses corporate tourism as development incentive — media

Ye Jialin, head of the Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau, noted that the first big event in Sanya this year to promote corporate tourism will be the International Boat Show

HAIKOU /China/, March 2. /TASS/. Authorities in the resort city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island are taking active measures to restore the economy after the pandemic, in particular through corporate tourism. The Hainan Daily newspaper reported this.

According to the newspaper, the Sanya administration is placing special emphasis on the development of exhibition activities. In recent years, this has been aided by the systematic restoration of air routes, which are expected to noticeably increase the flow of vacationers.

"The tourism industry, connected with the organization and holding of various corporate events, has such advantages as a high consumer potential of customers and a powerful spin-off effect," said Ye Jialin, head of Sanya Tourism Promotion Bureau.

According to the official, this area, which includes exhibition activities, "will not only optimize the structure of tourism, but also ensure its sustainable development". In addition, the official noted that large international events of this kind "have incomparable propaganda effect."

Ye Jialin clarified that the first major event in Sanya this year to promote corporate tourism will be the International Boat Show. It will be held April 13-17 with many foreign brands participating. "We are at a new historical starting point and will be unveiling the advantages of Sanya," he added. "We will attract more foreign tourists and help them get to know Sanya and fall in love with our city.

Sanya is China's leading resort, home to more than 1 million people. In 2022, its gross product was 84.71 billion yuan (about $12.2 billion). The city has an average annual temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius and a coastline of more than 200 kilometers. There are 19 bays and about 40 islands suitable for recreation in the surrounding waters, all of which enable the local government to successfully develop yacht and beach tourism.
