Sanya will hold large yacht exhibition marking 5th anniversary of Hainan's free trade port

The event will be held for five days starting April 13, at the International Exhibition Center and nearby marinas, as well as at the nearby Zhongfu duty-free shopping park

Authorities of the Chinese city of Sanya will hold a large-scale exhibition of sport and recreational vessels with participation of many foreign yacht brands to mark the 5th anniversary of the proclamation of the Hainan port of free trade (celebrated April 13). This was reported by the Nanguo Metropolis Daily.

According to the newspaper, the event will be held for five days at the International Exhibition Center and adjacent marinas, as well as in the nearby Zhongfu duty-free shopping park. The area of expositions will be 14.6 thousand square meters, including 27% allotted for boat shows on the water.

The organizers include the Sanya Administration, the Department of Commerce of Hainan and the Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development. The organizers of the Exhibition are the City Department of the Central Business District and the Municipal Department in charge of tourism promotion.

The event's visitors will not only be able to see yachts, but also canoes, inflatable boats, speedboats, surfboards, all kinds of gadgets needed to navigate on the water. Also at the exhibition will be presented accessories for lovers of fishing and scuba diving. According to official statistics, in 2022 the number of boats registered in Sanya increased by about 20%, to more than 1.1 thousand vessels.

On April 13, 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the establishment of an experimental free trade zone and port on Hainan. The goal of the program is to bring the island into the process of globalization and international labor distribution, laying a solid foundation for innovation. Local authorities are creating an attractive environment for investors and developing research and production infrastructure. According to the government plan, by 2025 the entrepreneurial environment in the province will reach advanced levels by national standards, and in 2050 the region will become a unique international cluster with an advanced economy housing the campuses of leading universities, advanced laboratories and the headquarters of global corporations.
