Sber, Kamaz, Qiwi user names on Telegram sold at auction for over $1 mln

Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov said in October 2022 that a platform for sale of unique nicknames on the messenger using an auction system named Fragment had been launched

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. The user names @sber, @kamaz and @qiwi on the Telegram messenger have been sold at an auction at the recently launched platform Fragment for 578,882 Ton ($1.069 mln at the exchange rate when the publication was made), a TASS correspondent reports.

The nickname @sber was sold for 471,000 Ton ($870,900), @kamaz - for 50,000 Ton ($92,000), @qiwi - for 57,800 Ton ($107,000), according to the data provided by Fragment.

The purchasers of these nicknames are anonymous. A representative of Kamaz’s press service told TASS that the company had not purchased such a user name.

TASS has also submitted requests to press services of Sber and Qiwi.

Nicknames are sold with the help of the cryptocurrency Toncoin on the basis of the TON blockchain platform. The purchased user names may be used for channels and personal profiles.
