Russian budget deficit to be 2.2% of GDP next year — Finance Minister

Anton Siluanov emphasized that the budget is resilient to various scenarios

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. The Russian federal budget deficit in 2027 will amount to 2.2% of GDP, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said at a Russian government meeting.

"Expenditures will total 48.8 trillion rubles ($574.1 bln), while revenues will stand at 43.3 trillion rubles ($509.4 bln). The budget deficit is set at around 2% of GDP for the next three years. In 2027, the budget deficit will amount to 2.2% of GDP. In conclusion, I would like to note that the prepared budget is balanced, which is important for maintaining macroeconomic stability, lowering inflation and interest rates, and driving the growth of real disposable public income, which will reach 1.4% next year," the minister said.

A smooth transition to the fiscal rule will be achieved by 2029, Siluanov noted. During the transition period in 2027-2028, the maximum expenditure limit will exceed the structural level by 1.5 trillion and 0.5 trillion rubles ($17.6 bln and $5.8 bln), respectively, the minister added.

"The budget is resilient to various scenarios. Starting next year, the base price of Urals crude oil is factored in at $50 per barrel for a three-year period. This means all obligations will be funded at this oil price level. If market conditions are more favorable, we will replenish the National Wealth Fund," Siluanov said.
