Pakistani envoy says work on Russian gas projects in country underway

The energy crisis associated with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz became a warning signal for a number of countries, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said

MOSCOW, September 29. /TASS/. Pakistan continues work on unique Russian gas projects, Pakistani Ambassador to Moscow Faisal Niaz Tirmizi told TASS.

"Yes, we continue the work on those unique projects as we want the economies of all countries in the region to integrate," he said when asked a respective question.

The diplomat said in an interview with TASS earlier that Islamabad and Moscow were working on the initiative of creating the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline. The energy crisis associated with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz became a warning signal for a number of countries, he said, adding that the Islamic Republic planned to increase oil imports from Russia. Moreover, it was reported that Pakistan was discussing with the Russian side prospects for direct supplies of liquefied natural gas from Russia and the upgrade of oil and gas infrastructure in Pakistan.
