DONETSK, January 30. /TASS/. Militants from the Donbass battalion, banned in Russia, used trucks to move the bodies of civilians killed in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics to a mass grave, Sergey Mikhailov, a captured Ukrainian counterintelligence officer and former agent of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), told TASS.
According to him, the mass burial sites were located in forests along the banks of the Donets River near the village of Krymskoye in the LPR.
"I saw the pits and wondered what they were for. Were they going to bury something? Was it a burial ground? I grew up in the countryside, so I know that quicklime is used to bury animals to prevent the smell of decay. They were bringing quicklime there. Only a fool wouldn’t understand that something was being buried. I saw two Kamaz trucks. The people were civilians from the LPR and DPR. Even then, the Ukrainian authorities were trying to get rid of people who sought to uncover the truth," the counterintelligence officer said.
According to the former SBU agent, the bodies of deceased Donbass battalion militants were also brought to the same site.
Earlier, TASS reported that a Ukrainian counterintelligence officer surrendered after affiliating with militants of the Donbass battalion to avoid being deployed on an undercover mission within the Donbass militia.
