Scholz wants to visit Trump before Bundestag elections — DPA

The German chancellor has not yet been invited to Donald Trump’s inauguration

BERLIN, December 17. /TASS/. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz intends to visit US President-elect Donald Trump after his inauguration on January 20 and ahead of the February 23 federal elections in Germany, the DPA news agency reported, citing sources in the German government.

According to the report, during his initial phone call with Trump after the latter’s victory in the US presidential election, Scholz "expressed his desire to visit Trump soon after he assumed office," and the visit is likely to happen, the news agency says.

Scholz has not yet been invited to Trump’s inauguration. Previously, CNN reported citing its sources that the Trump camp had already invited several foreign leaders, including President of Argentina Javier Milei, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni and President of Salvador Nayib Bukele to the inauguration. According to CBS News, Chinese leader Xi Jinping has also been invited.

Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.
