WASHINGTON, February 23. /TASS/. New US restrictions have affected, in addition to Russia, companies from Vietnam, Germany, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, China, Lichtenstein, Ireland, the UAE, Serbia, Turkey, Finland and Estonia, the press service of the US Department of the Treasury said.
According to its statement, in total, the sanctions "targeted 26 third-country entities and individuals in 11 countries." According to the US financial agency, these companies were purportedly aiding Russia in circumventing the sanctions introduced by the US and its allies as well as cooperating with Russian companies.
The statement claimed that the list included "third-country exporters and transhippers of technology, equipment, and parts to Russia." Additionally, according to the agency, the sanctions were introduced against "a freight forwarder involved in weapons shipments to Russia, and a transnational money laundering network facilitating the illicit movement of Russian-origin precious metals."
The inclusion in the sanctions list involves the freezing of US assets and a ban for US citizens and companies on doing business with the sanctioned entities.
According to the US Department of the Treasury, the US authorities have introduced restrictions against more than 500 private individuals and legal entities on the second anniversary of the onset of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine and over the death of blogger Alexey Navalny. Additionally, 90 companies have been included in the list by the Department of Commerce.
