BEIJING, February 23. /TASS/. China’s top diplomat Wang Yi said that the more complicated the situation in Ukraine becomes, the more persistently the world community should push for a peaceful dialogue to resolve it, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"China believes that the more complex the situation [in Ukraine] is, the more vigilant we have to be. The more complicated the problem is, the more resolutely we have to push for dialogue," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, citing Wang Yi after his visits to the European Union and Russia.
The Chinese top diplomat specified that Beijing plans to play a constructive part in resolving the Ukraine conflict and to collaborate more intensively with other countries looking for a more effective solution to overcome the crisis. He added that in the near future, Chinese authorities would publish a document that will outline Beijing’s official position on the issue.
The member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPR) Central Committee recalled that during the Munich Security Conference he exchanged views with high-ranking officials from more than ten countries, including Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. Additionally, while visiting Russia, Wang Yi focused on it in his talks with the Russian government.
"Despite the fact that the position of each party is not exactly the same and even drastically contradict each other, everyone acknowledges that the conflict should eventually be resolved through dialogue," he said. "Everyone expects China to play a more constructive part in finding a political solution to the Ukraine problem."
According to the Chinese diplomat, the Ukraine crisis broke out in Europe, but its reverberations have a negative impact across the world.
Wang Yi said that China supports the EU nations’ efforts to resolve the conflict.
"Europe needs to mull over the conditions which are needed to be created for a ceasefire," he stressed.
