Russia collects evidence of Kiev war crimes — Lavrov

The Russian Foreign Minister also pointed out that the West had taken up a biased and indecorous stance on developments in Ukraine and completely disregards the suffering of civilians in Donetsk, Lugansk and other parts of Ukraine

MOSCOW, March 16. /TASS/. Russian service members and diplomats gather evidence of the war crimes committed by the Kiev regime, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at a news conference after his talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

"Our service members, with the participation of diplomats, are collecting evidence of war crimes. And I am convinced that we will not let it go," he said.

Lavrov pointed out that the West had taken up a biased and indecorous stance on developments in Ukraine, trusting any allegations of Ukrainian propaganda, which "passes off photo and video evidence of the Kiev regime’s atrocities as actions of the Russian army," and completely disregards the suffering of civilians in Donetsk, Lugansk and other parts of Ukraine.

"In all the contacts with our Western counterparts, we draw their attention to the inadmissibility of such blatant and inhumane double standards," the minister stressed.

Lavrov stated that the attack by the Ukrainian armed forces with a Tochka-U tactical missile on central Donetsk did not elicit any sympathy from the West.

"The maximum that I have seen was an image of the location where that missile landed with a caption attributing this act to Russian troops who had allegedly attacked a populated locality controlled by the Ukrainian army," Lavrov said. "The other day there was a conversation with a European leader who listened attentively to everything about Donetsk and said the following, ‘I have taken note of your version of the events.’ I do not think we need to comment on that. Let it be on the hands of those who cover up the Kiev regime’s crimes."

On Monday, the authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said fragments of the Ukrainian army’s missile Tochka-U crashed upon the center of Donetsk. According to the Donetsk Republic’s leader, Denis Pushilin, the missile carried a cluster munition. Eighteen people were killed on site and three others died in hospital a short while later. A total of 35 victims were taken to local hospitals.
