Egypt registers Sputnik V vaccine

Egypt has become the 35th state across the globe that approved the use of the Sputnik V vaccine

MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. The Egyptian Drug Authority has registered the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, press service of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) reports.

The vaccine was registered within the framework of the emergency use authorization (EUA).

"Egypt, the most populated country in the Middle East, with the population over 100 mln people, has become the 35th state across the globe that approved the use of the Sputnik V vaccine," RDIF says.

"The decision to include Sputnik V in the national portfolio of vaccines [of Egypt] indicates confidence in safety and high efficiency of the pharmaceutical," chief executive of RDIF Kirill Dmitriev said in a comment.

Sputnik V is among the top three coronavirus vaccines in terms of the number of approvals received from government regulators.
