MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. More than 180 residential buildings and over 280 households are flooded in the Kurgan Region, a Russian Emergencies Ministry spokesperson told TASS.
"In the Kurgan Region, the water level is rising in the rivers of Uy and Tobol. Currently, 12 settlements are in the flood zone, with 181 residential buildings and 281 households affected," the official said.
The spokesperson added that the evacuation of citizens was ongoing. "Rescuers have already evacuated 4,354 people, including 685 children. A total of 21 temporary accommodation units were established, where over 2,000 people can stay. Currently, 555 persons remain in temporary accommodation units, including 107 children," the official added.
Currently, efforts to fight the flood involve over 1,800 personnel and 600 pieces of equipment. The focus is on evacuating local residents and reinforcing the river bank areas that are prone to flooding. The group is being expanded.
Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s regional branch reported that six settlements in two municipal districts of the Kurgan Region were in the flood zone.
