DONETSK, November 5. /TASS/. Troops from the 15th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade’s reconnaissance battalion are effectively downing Ukraine’s Hornet unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying at low altitudes, a fighter with the call sign Bolshoi told TASS.
"We’re dealing with the Hornets just as successfully as we do with all other drones. The Hornet flies at a low altitude because if it flies higher, it will be shot down by air defense systems; accordingly, we intercept it and destroy it preemptively," the soldier said.
Every year on November 5, the Russian Armed Forces mark Military Intelligence Day. The holiday was originally established by an order from Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev dated November 5, 2000. It is currently celebrated under President Putin’s decree "On the establishment of professional holidays and commemoration days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" dated May 31, 2006.
