Kiev officials embezzle defense funds amid doubts about Ukraine’s future — Russian senator

"In wartime, corruption ultimately eroded the already weak foundations of Ukrainian statehood," Alexander Voloshin said

MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Officials of the Kiev regime do not believe Ukraine has a future and therefore seek to embezzle as much money as possible, including from defense funds, Russian senator Alexander Voloshin, who represents the Donetsk People’s Republic, told TASS.

Earlier, a Russian security official told TASS that the military administration in Ukraine’s Sumy Region had embezzled budget funds, installing only three fortifications instead of the planned 30. Later, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko accused the central government of waging a campaign of lies, failing to allocate funds to meet the city’s needs and refusing to cooperate. He also questioned why Kiev’s air defenses were ineffective and where the billions of dollars allocated to them had gone.

"In wartime, corruption ultimately eroded the already weak foundations of Ukrainian statehood. Everyone is stealing as if the final days are coming because many seem to have no faith in the future of the current system. Ukraine is being looted with increasing intensity, and the incident with fortifications in the Sumy Region is further proof of that. Ukrainian officials are even embezzling defense funds, meaning that they view the defense of the dying regime as a hopeless case," Voloshin said.

He noted that Klitschko had been particularly critical of Zelensky but that the Kiev mayor himself had previously opposed peace initiatives instead of thinking about ways to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Kiev. Besides, he relocated his family to the West.

"Now, Zelensky and Klitschko will try to shift the responsibility for the humanitarian disaster in Kiev to each other like a hot potato. Neither of them is offering a real way out of the conflict, which lies through dismantling Ukraine’s Nazi ideas, which serve as cover up for theft," the Russian senator concluded.
