Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed Middle East issues with Ayman Hussein Abdullah Safadi, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Foreign Ministry said following a meeting held on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

"An exchange of views took place regarding key current Middle East issues, with a focus on the consequences of the unprecedented military escalation in the region in the context of US-Israeli aggression against Iran. The situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict was also reviewed," the Foreign Ministry stated.

The parties also discussed "priority tasks for the steady development of traditionally friendly Russian-Jordanian relations," the Foreign Ministry noted. "Particular attention was paid to the outcomes of the 7th meeting of the Russian-Jordanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, held in Moscow on September 9-10," the ministry added.
