Man arrested on Capitol Hill carried two bottles of accelerant

US Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters the incident has nothing to do with the presidential election

WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. A man, earlier arrested by the US Capitol Police while trying to enter the Capitol Visitor Center with a flare gun and a torch, also carried two bottles of accelerant in his backpack, CBS reported citing US Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger.

In his words, the man was apprehended during a security screening at the south entrance of the visitor center at 12:20 p.m. local time (5:20 p.m. GMT). He had had two bottles of an accelerant in his backpack and "quite a bit" of papers with him, the report says.

Manger told reporters the incident has nothing to do with the presidential election currently under way in the US.

Capitol Police are reviewing the suspect's social media, Manger said. They believe that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could be a possible motive.
