Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude registered off Kamchatka's coast

No injuries or damages were reported, and no tsunami alert was issued

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, April 16. /TASS/. An earthquake of 5.5 magnitude was registered in the Pacific Ocean off Kamchatka's coast, the Kamchatsky department of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences said on Tuesday.

"The earthquake's epicenter registered overnight to Wednesday [local time] lay in the Kronotsky Bay in 167 kilometers to the north-east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The epicenter lay at the depth of 40.2 kilometers under the seabed. The magnitude stood at 5.5," seismologists said.

According to the emergencies ministry, Kamchatka residents did not feel the earthquake. No injuries or damages were reported, and no tsunami alert was issued.
