MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. The Russian side expects the contract for construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt will be signed in 2016, a source in Rosatom state-owned corporation said on Tuesday.
"I believe coordination will be completed soon. This is the first deal for Egypt with four power units at once. We expect to sign the contract this year," the source said.
"The most important is that two intergovernmental agreements were signed, including the loan one. A year from intergovernmental agreement signing is needed to prepare a contract of such level," Rosatom’s representative said.
Russia and Egypt signed an intergovernmental agreement on construction of the nuclear plant in November 2015. The power plant is expected to start generating electric power in 2024.
