BANGKOK, October 18. /TASS/. The World Bank recognizes Russia’s digital achievements and provides a platform to share this expertise with developing economies, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk told TASS, following the autumn meetings of the IMF and World Bank.
Overchuk noted that "Russia possesses vast experience and knowledge and has much to offer countries of the Global South," particularly regarding "digital transformation in public administration."
"The World Bank acknowledges Russia’s achievements in this area, understands how vital Russian expertise is for developing economies, and provides us with an international platform to work directly with these nations," he emphasized.
On the sidelines of the meetings in Bangkok, Russia organized two packed working seminars with World Bank support. "One seminar focused on digital transformation in land and real estate administration and geospatial data systems. The other addressed digital public services and digital transformation in tax administration," Overchuk said.
He noted that these areas crucially impact the business climate, investment attractiveness, and socio-economic development in the Global South. "The World Bank prioritizes these issues, and Russia is a global leader in digital governance," Overchuk said, adding that Russia ranks eighth in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index.
"By learning from our experience, developing nations are seeking closer cooperation with Russia, which aligns with our interests."
Overchuk also pointed out that the World Bank primarily focuses on supporting developing nations and the Global South, the vast majority of which are friendly to Russia. "These nations form the core audience at World Bank meetings. They come here seeking access to financing, global best practices, and knowledge to develop their economies," the deputy prime minister concluded.
