MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. First sporting goods stores of the new chain Desport will open in Russia in late November-early December on the sites of sports retailer Decathlon, Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Viktor Yevtukhov told TASS.
"Desport intends to open its sporting goods stores in the last week of November - early December. The first stores will open in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and then in other Russian cities. About 30 stores are planned to open by the end of the year. Stores will open gradually, as the product offering is formed and goods arrive," he said.
The ARM company, which acquired the Russian division of sports retailer Decathlon in September 2023, is launching a new network of sports stores called Desport. As a representative of ARM explained, the name of the new network comes from the old French word "desport," which means "entertainment", "game." It is from this ancient word the word "sport" came into many languages of the world.
