The gas pipeline will supply about 50 billion cubic meters of gas to China annually

MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. Gazprom is currently preparing to launch the projects of the Powers of Siberia-2 and Soyuz Vostok gas pipelines through Mongolia to China, the holding’s CEO Alexey Miller said at an event on the occasion of Gazprom's 30th anniversary.

"Currently, we are preparing to start implementing such projects as Power of Siberia-2, to start building the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia, the Far Eastern gas pipeline, and, of course, a link that will connect the gas transportation system we have created in the European part of the country with the gas transmission capacities created under the Eastern Gas Program," he said.

"We have accumulated considerable experience in the Arctic. We have built our expertise, experience and knowledge first-hand. Gazprom has created a new gas production center - Yamalsky. Currently, new large hydrocarbon production fields are being developed," Miller added.

In January 2022, Gazprom announced that it had signed a protocol on the results of a feasibility study for the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline project with Mongolia. This pipeline will be a continuation of the Power of Siberia - 2.

In November 2022, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko announced that the design work on the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline would be completed in 2023.

The gas pipeline will supply about 50 billion cubic meters of gas to China annually. The total length of the gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia will be 962.9 km. Construction on the project could start in 2024, and the gas pipeline may be launched in 2027-2028.
