MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russian forces struck over 90 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions in the past day during the special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Tuesday.
"In the past 24 hours, operational/tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Russian group of forces struck 93 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 162 areas," the spokesman said.
Russian forces inflicted damage on Ukrainian manpower and equipment in the Kupyansk area, eliminating roughly 25 enemy troops over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Kupyansk area, artillery of the western battlegroup inflicted damage on the Ukrainian army units in areas near the settlements of Sinkovka and Krakhmalnoye in the Kharkov Region and Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
The strikes eliminated enemy manpower and equipment, the general said.
"The enemy’s losses totaled as many as 25 Ukrainian personnel and two motor vehicles," Konashenkov reported.
Russian forces struck Ukrainian manpower and equipment in the Krasny Liman area, eliminating roughly 120 enemy personnel over the past day, he said.
"In the Krasny Liman area, enemy manpower and equipment were struck near the communities of Stelmakhovka, Chervonopopovka, Chervonaya Dibrova and Kuzmino in the Lugansk People’s Republic as a result of active operations by units from the battlegroup Center and artillery fire," the spokesman said.
As many as 120 Ukrainian personnel, four armored combat vehicles and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer were destroyed in that area in the past 24 hours, the general specified.
Russian forces supported by combat aircraft and artillery eliminated roughly 350 Ukrainian troops in their advance in the Donetsk area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Donetsk area, about 350 Ukrainian personnel, two armored combat vehicles, four motor vehicles, a D-20 howitzer and two D-30 howitzers were destroyed in the past 24 hours as a result of active operations by units of the southern battlegroup, air strikes, artillery and heavy flamethrower fire," the spokesman said.
Russian forces struck Ukrainian troops near Ugledar and Shevchenko in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Zelyony Gai in the Zaporozhye Region, killing and wounding roughly 45 enemy personnel over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye areas, operational/tactical aircraft and artillery of the battlegroup East inflicted damage by combined firepower on the Ukrainian army units in areas near the settlements of Ugledar and Shevchenko in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Zelyony Gai in the Zaporozhye Region," the spokesman said.
The Ukrainian military lost "as many as 45 personnel killed and wounded, two infantry fighting vehicles and three pickup trucks" in those areas in the past 24 hours, the general specified.
In the area of Chervonoye in the Zaporozhye Region, Russian forces obliterated a Ukrainian ammunition depot, he said.
Russian forces wiped out a Ukrainian ammunition depot in the Kherson area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"An ammunition depot was destroyed near the community of Tokarevo in the Kherson area," the spokesman said.
Russian air defense forces shot down six rockets of US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and destroyed eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the past 24 hours, air defense capabilities shot down six HIMARS rockets. In addition, they destroyed eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in areas near the settlements of Rubezhnoye, Zaliman and Kremennaya in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Blagoveshchenka, Nikolskoye, Vladimirovka and Blagodatnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Lesnoye in the Zaporozhye Region," the spokesman said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 390 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 211 helicopters, 3,256 unmanned aerial vehicles, 406 surface-to-air missile systems, 8,066 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,045 multiple rocket launchers, 4,232 field artillery guns and mortars and 8,583 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
