Over 90 international observers accredited to presidential election in Belarus

"Around 150 more observers will arrive in Belarus a couple of days ahead of the election," the chairman of the country’s Central Election Commission said

MINSK, December 23. /TASS/. More than 90 international observers have been accredited to monitor the presidential election in Belarus on January 26, 2025, Igor Karpenko, chairman of the country’s Central Election Commission (CEC), said.

"Ninety-three international observers have already been accredited to monitor the election. They include observers from the CIS mission, lawmakers, delegates from the youth organization of the Nonaligned Movement, electoral bodies of foreign states, independent observers," he said.

He recalled that not long ago he had met with head of the CIS observer mission and CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev, who announced plans to send more than 50 long-term observers.

"Around 150 more observers will arrive in Belarus a couple of days ahead of the election. The mission will have around 200 members in all," Karpenko added.
