TUNIS, December 3. /TASS/. Syria’s government army is reinforcing its defenses in the north of the Hama governorate to prepare for a counterattack on terrorist units, the SANA news agency reported.
According to the news agency, fierce fighting is currently underway near the village of Hattab in northwestern Hama.
According to the Al-Qahira Al-Ekhbariya television channel, Syrian warplanes, backed by Russia’s aerospace forces, are delivering strikes on terrorists’ logistics routes in the Hama governorate.
On Monday, Syrian government forces liberated the towns of Karnaz, Tal Meleh, Jalma, Jubbayn, Hayalin, and Sheikh Hadid located in the Hama governorate along the motorway linking the cities of Al-Suqaylabiyah and Mharda.
Units of the Jabhat al-Nusra extremist group (outlawed in Russia) staged a large-scale attack on Syria’s northern governorates in the early hours on November 27. According to the Syrian government army command, the terrorists attempted to seize a number of neighborhoods and military facilities and attacked positions of government forces. The Syrian army launched an operation to repel the attack.
On November 30, the Syrian army command said that government forces were delivering strikes on terrorists’ positions in Aleppo. According to the Syrian defense ministry, the army had to regroup to save the lives of civilians and its troops and prepare for a counterattack.
