NEW YORK, November 5. /TASS/. US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump does not expect final results to be known by the end of the day, anonymous sources familiar with internal discussions in Trump’s inner circle have told CNN.
Although processing the results may take time, his election team is convinced that some critical states will be called before the end of the evening, providing an insight into how the election is shaping up.
The campaign office also views the possibility of Trump’s remarks to the press.
Trump told reporters after casting his ballot that he was not sure whether he is planning to declare victory.
"I’m hearing states where I’m up by a lot, but they won’t have a final number for a long time," he said.
The US presidential election is taking place on November 5, with voters also selecting a third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, and governors for 11 states and 2 territories.
Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are vying for the presidency. Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is seeking a return to the White House after losing to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Harris has been serving as vice president since January 2021.
