MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained a resident of the Khabarovsk Region who was going to leak information about the Russian Defense Ministry’s military facilities to Ukrainian military intelligence, the FSB's Center for Public Relations (CPR) told TASS on Thursday.
"The illegal activities of a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, who is suspected of high treason, have been suppressed," the press service reported, "During operational and investigative activities it was established that the detainee proactively contacted via the Internet a representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate with the purpose of transferring information regarding military facilities of the Russian Defense Ministry stationed in the Khabarovsk Region, which could be used for sabotage and terrorist acts, strikes with precision weapons and drones in areas of loading, maintenance and paths of military equipment."
The investigators initiated a criminal case on grounds of committing a crime under Article 275 (High treason) of the Russian Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 12 to 20 years in prison.
