Russia’s Putin, Italy’s Renzi meeting in Milan to discuss topical international problems

MILAN, October 17. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi are having a meeting in the working dinner format. It is planned that they will discuss bilateral relations and topical international problems.

The meeting in being held on Friday at Milan’s prefecture. The Russian delegation also includes Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yury Ushakov. This is Renzi’s first meeting with the Russian president after his appointment as Italy’s prime minister.

Putin arrived to the dinner with Renzi after a meeting with the leaders of Ukraine, Germany and France, which had lasted longer than expected. The Italian prime minister was waiting for Putin in the prefecture’s courtyard. On the way to the dining hall, Renzi asked about the results of Putin’s previous meeting. Putin told him about the meeting in brief. When Friday’s agenda is over, Putin will speak to journalists, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

Earlier on Friday, the leaders of Russia and Italy took part in a working breakfast, which was also attended by the German, French and Ukrainian leaders. The topic for discussion was the Ukrainian settlement. After the breakfast, Putin and Renzi attended a session of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit.
